Topic Sessions
Obesity, Health, Weight Loss, and Weight Management: Dr. James O. Hill is one of the world’s leading experts on obesity, weight loss, and weight management. Learn the facts about obesity, our efforts to control it, what works and what doesn’t. This was our most popular session in 2012 and we are doubling the time provided.
Breakout Sessions – Using Social Media in Fitness & Health: On Friday we will have six breakout sessions on different social media topics related to the fitness and health industry. Each topic will be presented by a social media professional in the Boulder/Denver area.
- How to Create an E-Book and Why You Should
- Blog Bootcamp: Get Your Blog in Shape in 50 Minutes
- Mobile Marketing: Using Your Smart Phone to Promote Health & Fitness
- SEO for Websites and Blogs
- Building Your Brand and Monetizing Your Fitness Expertise – Led by Fun and Fit‘s Kymberly Williams-Evans, MA & Alexandra Williams
- Succeeding with YouTube
Alternative Medicine – Fact or Fiction?: Do those natural pills recommended by your friend really work? Does bikram yoga have any proven health benefits? Should you meditate daily? Learn what has been proven to work and what hasn’t in the field of integrative (alternative) medicine. Dr. Lisa Corbin, Medical Director for the Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Colorado Hospital.
Physical Fitness Lab Demonstration: Dr. Iñigo San Millán of The Anschutz Health and Wellness Center will demonstrate an actual laboratory physical fitness and analyze the results. We’ll look at how the body uses glucose and fats to power ourselves and what science tells us about the best fitness training regimes.
Social Media in the Fitness World: This topic will be presented by Sarah Chambers and Chris Freytag of the American Council on Exercise. Learn how to create content in the age of social media (blog length, how to get messages across using Twitter and Pinterest, etc) and hear examples of success stories in the fitness world including who is making a splash on Twitter, what YouTube experts are hot, and what new and innovative websites are out there to use.
Communication of Evidence-Based Health and Wellness Information: Everyone attending Fit Social is already into fitness and health. The reason we attend the conference is to figure out how best to promote our beliefs to the public. Learn from Dr. Carol Torgan, American College of Sports Medicine, about various ways of presenting health, wellness, and fitness news to the public – what works and what doesn’t?
Healthy Cooking Demo & Food Photography Workshop: We will have a healthy cooking demo with Chef Paolo Neville from Bistro Elaia, the Anschutz Center’s healthy eating bistro. Simultaneously, we’ll have a food photography workshop. Food (calories out) is half of good health and this will be your opportunity to learn about healthy cooking techniques and how to present them better to your audience.
Optional Exercise Classes: Four times during the conference (Friday morning, Friday afternoon, Saturday afternoon, and Sunday morning) we will have optional fitness classes led by fitness experts at the Anschutz Health and Wellness Center. This will be your chance to get outside (or in the gym) to learn about current fitness courses, running techniques, new trends, etc. See the Activities page of this website for details.

Do you have any openings for vendors? Or is this strictly an educational conference? Regardless, I plan on having my company send me either way lol but I wanted to inquire as to the vendor possibilities.
Thank you!!
Respectfully,
Zahira Schmidt
Yes, Zahira. We do have openings for vendors. We’ll contact you directly via email with information.
