In our last recap of the Fitness & Health Bloggers Conference, we mentioned the big reach that the #FHBC12 hashtag had on Twitter. I thought you might be interested to know what the estimated reach was over the entire weekend.
According to my calculations (aka hashtracking.com), FHBC attendees generated 4048 tweets with the #FHBC12 hashtag and – hold onto your hats – made 8,359,577 impressions. Over eight million impressions from around 100 attendees – wow!
Now, check out this graphic that Ted Vickey sent over. Each dot on this graph represents the bloggers who attended the conference. The red lines are people who are mutually following each other. We can’t see which dot is who, but we can see how connected this community is with one another.
If you didn’t believe it before, I hope it is sinking in now – you make an impact with what you write about. You are an activist of healthy living, and people are listening. You are the voice of the new media, and by sharing what you learned from the fantastic Anschutz Center for Health & Wellness’ health professionals, you are taking steps to effectively communicate fact- and research-based health information to your audience. Mission accomplished – or rather, Mission just-begun!
This is a continual path, this learning and sharing that you do on your blog, through Twitter, and in real life with your friends, clients and co-workers. Keep it up, and stay tuned for more information about next year’s conference. We hope you will join us again and continue to learn and grow with us!

[...] Encouraged to promote the conference online, roughly 100 participants shared their insights throughout each day with consistent messaging (they used the hashtag #FHBC12 on each tweet, Facebook post, and blog entry). By day three of the event, the Fitness and Health Blogger’s Conference was trending on Twitter. (See: Fitness Bloggers Make an Impact). [...]
That @TedVickey is pretty darn stupendous! I bet his dot is red!
